rejoining the ranks

oh sweet full-time employment, your bi-weekly paychecks minus health insurance contributions will soon be in my grasp once again. and perhaps this time around, i can actually take part in a 401K plan, you know, maybe plan for my elder years. wouldn’t that be grand?

yep. today i accepted a position at a small advertising agency where i say good-bye to my lazy days spent with my doggie all so i can eat, pay off medical bills, and maybe even stash some away in hopes of getting in some much needed scuba diving perhaps later in the summer.

and though i am happy to have found steady work (my first since being laid off last january), i am a little disappointed in myself for slacking off during my month and a half of freedom.

it’s the same ol’ story. anyone who has had a lapse in employment, whether self-initiated or involuntary, knows the pressure s/he puts on him/herself to get back to his/her roots, so to speak. it’s the proverbial me time. reconnect with what is truly important.

my lofty ideas were to spend more time outdoors, start on a bigger crochet project, visit some museums that haven’t been frequented in a while, take more photos, get my portfolio together, maybe even investigate some galleries.

but because hard drive crashes, bike difficulties, and namely female anatomy issues became part of the equation, thereby derailing plans, i instead found myself taking in one too many marathons of deadliest catch and american chopper. not a total wash, i was also able to consolidate more of my things, meaning, eliminating some meaningless clutter that i have managed to collect over the years.

all is not lost. my new job doesn’t start until the 13th of june. and with my health prematurely back in order, i have a week and a half to at least start on some me projects.
