missed the goal
remember this entry? well, i didn’t make it. as of this writing, i’m sitting about 125 miles shy of the 3,000 mile mark that i set for myself. (i just reread that entry, and i almost made it sound like i was shooting for 5,000 miles. but that’s just what i wanted my odometer to be reading a year later. so, 2,000 from last year and 3,000 from this year… yeah, that equals 5,000. enough of my dumb math equation.)
anyway, i nearly met my goal. and i was on very good track through late fall. but i have no one to blame but myself for not staying on the bike through the most brutal of weather. but i suppose i could transfer the fault to things like potential frost bite or sliding into lake michigan (which is quite palpable). november through most of january seemed to be such a breeze. but i should know chicago weather better than that having lived here 7 years. this city doesn’t feel the worst until winter is halfway done.
and so, for almost 8 weeks, i took the damn train to work. there. i said it. satisfied?
well, i’m not.
